What Synthesia does
Synthesia makes videos with a realistic AI presenter, called an avatar, who reads your script on screen. You don't need a camera, a microphone or editing skills. It's popular for training videos, how-tos, product explainers and short updates. It's on our short video and presentation pages.
What's free on Basic
Synthesia's pricing page lists Basic at $0 a month with 10 minutes of video creation or dubbing a month, 3 survey responses, 500 credits, pre-built templates, and the ability to share videos online with a link.
The catch: according to the pricing page, downloading your video and removing the Synthesia logo come with Starter and above. On Basic, you share by link.
Paid plans
Starter, $29 a month billed monthly: everything in Basic, plus downloads, logo removal and an AI video assistant.
Pro, $89 a month billed monthly (Synthesia lists $64 a month when billed yearly): everything in Starter, plus 5 personal avatars, branded video pages and interactive videos.
Enterprise is custom-priced for big teams.
Is it worth paying?
Use Basic to test whether an avatar video works for you. 10 minutes is enough for several short clips. Upgrade to Starter only when you need to download videos, for example to upload them to YouTube or a course, or to remove the logo for a client.
Just need a voiceover, not a person on screen? ElevenLabs' free plan may be all you need.
