Instagram, Facebook and Messenger: look for Meta AI in the search bar or start a chat with it. There's also the Meta AI app and meta.ai. Meta says features aren't available everywhere yet.

What it's good for

Quick questions, writing help, editing a photo, making an image, and summarizing a pile of unread group messages. In the app you can pick Instant for quick answers or Thinking for harder questions.

Safety and privacy

Your chats with Meta AI are not like chats with friends. Meta's help center says it uses your interactions with AI to improve AI at Meta, may share messages with select partners (like search engines) to answer you, and can use your location and profile interests to personalize answers.

Incognito chats: Meta says incognito chats in the Meta AI app aren't saved and Meta can't access them. WhatsApp also offers incognito chats with Meta AI.

Reset what it remembers: type /reset-ai in a chat to delete the AI's copy of that chat, or /reset-all-ais to reset all of them. Deleting a chat alone isn't the same thing.

Your normal WhatsApp messages stay end-to-end encrypted; Meta AI only sees what you send to it or share with it. You can't remove the Meta AI button, but you never have to use it.
